Family Photos

Whew! Well, I can say this was a nonevent! I don't know why, but Haleigh would not even look at the photographer, she would turn her head in the other direction! The photographers even spend some time before the session so the kids can warm up to them. But Haleigh did not want any part of the family photo! They kept saying, "she is soooo shy." Unfortunately, we woke up at 5:30 that morning (not sure why), so I think by that time we were just tired! I should have seen the signs, she would not let me fix her hair that morning and I had great plans for it! She was sent to her room multiple times crying because she didn't want to fix her hair. I told her she could come out when she was ready to fix it. Every single time she came out and said she was ready...which would lead to another trip to her room. It finally became evident that she had no intention of letting mommy touch her head and she was just saying that so she could come out and play! So after a couple hundred dollars on outfits, and lots of coaxing with candy, toys, fruit snacks - we got ONE shot out of 50 that would be frameable! Well, I can say we spent only $10, instead of a couple hundred! LOL! Will post pic after I scan it.

Summer's over

Our WATERBUG!

Haleigh & Jamie
Sussanne, Sharon, Jasna, Kim & Tracye

I guess a cue that summer is coming to a close is when the neighborhood pool closes. This was the last weekend, so we made one more trip and one more hurrah with our friends. We're sad it's coming to an end because Haleigh has gotten so comfortable in the water - she loves it! She's a little waterbug!

A Night in New York City

Amy, Jasna and Kim

Amy, Tracye and Kim

My good friend and neighbor, Tracye, hosted this month's Westbrook Lakes Girl's night (last Thursday night). We had a blast! The theme was New York, how fitting, for the original date was to be September 11th, until Ike blew thru! She did an amazing job with decorating and making us feel like we were in NYC! We had pizza from the food vendor and cosmos to drink. Amy and I had a great time getting dressed like Carrie from Sex and the City! Accessorize! BTW, watched the movie this weekend, it's GREAT! Here are a few pics, will post more soon.

Traffic

Ok, can Houston traffic be any worse?! On Friday, it took me 1 hour 45 mins to get to the daycare (no wreck)! Got there at 6:30 - closing time! SERIOUSLY - morning and afternoon - it ruins your day! I just need a driver and a good book/music...think I would be able to relax? Maybe I could learn to cross stich! Ha! In the morning, it takes 30 mins to get from our house to 290 - and I am talking about travelling 2 miles! URGH! I am thinking it is worse due to the hurricane...so, let's hope! In that case, I am not complaining! We are very fortunate right now, there are many without...so we send our thoughts and prayers to them.

Daddy's home!

Tennessee vs Florida...Eddie, Mike, Steve and George

Go Texans! George, Mike, Eddie and Steve

Eddie got home last night from his annual guy's trip! We missed him! They went to Nashville for the Texans game. Haleigh was super excited to see him. Though we didn't get to spend much time with him...he had to go help someone hook up a generator...got to feel for those who still don't have power! But he was forgiven when she found out he brought her presents from Nashville. LOL!

Addicted

I can see where this could become highly addictive! I think kids say the funniest things. So, I will be sharing the many hilarious things Haleigh has to say. She continues to surprise us with her wit everyday! Tonight, I asked her what she wanted to have with her corndog and she said grapes! My response was, sorry babe, we don't have any...(because I have yet to make it to the grocery store since Ike). And she said "because the storm took it away???" I just smiled and said yes...what can you say?

Fave

This is my favorite picture right now. So, I had to share. Although, many of you probably have already seen it. Addison's blue eyes are mesmerizing and that's why I love this photo so...it really captures her eyes well. Though, we're still not sure where she got those beautiful blue eyes! Poor Eddie! Anyway, I have it as my screensaver at work. This is what guides me through my day. It's a constant reminder of why I exist. Everyday, I can't wait to go home and see my beautiful girls. It brings utter happiness to my veins and lights up my soul! I have a very good friend, Jennifer, that I met at Dynegy...there would be times I would walk past her desk and catch her looking at the same photo of her kids. I love you, Jen! At this time, we didn't have kids yet, so I thought it as sweet but maybe a little odd. hehe. But NOW, I can relate. This is our connection to them...when you're at work for 12 hours a day, sometimes you need a little reminder of why you're here and all the SWEETNESS in your life. =) Now, to all of my "stay at home" mom friends...I know what you are thinking right now..."I'd pay to go to work today" because the kids have been out of school for over a week now due to IKE and everyone is looking for some sense of normalcy. I love you guys! P.S. Just this past week, Haleigh is grasping the idea that she has "hazel" eyes...I have been trying for quite some time and she just didn't get it! Yea Haleigh!

Newbie

I thought this would be a great way to share our fun with our family and friends. I feel so technologically out of it! So, this is my attempt to stay in tune with the times. We'll see how it goes - since I have sooo much spare time. But if I can find the time, I know I will enjoy it, because I love sharing our lives with you! My goal will be to update once a week and we'll go from there! Hope you enjoy as much as I do.
